Enterprise AV Solutions for BP

Challenge:

British Petroleum (BP) is one of the largest fuel, energy and petrochemical products providers in the world. With locations in over 100 countries worldwide, BP is responsible for using and deploying sophisticated technology techniques to locate oil and gas buried beneath the earth’s surface. This corporation needed assistance with choosing and implementing secure global audiovisual technologies for visualization, collaboration and communication in a real-time, reliable environment. BP sought an AV partner with the technical acumen, experience and footprint to handle large implementations and support in locations in the U.S. and internationally.

Solution #1: BP/Chicago:

BP IT&S Chicago partnered with Whitlock for the implementation of an IPTV / Video Distribution system for the company’s oil and gas division. This system enables BP professionals to view monitors on the trade floor and listen to audio on their desktops, sharing key, time-sensitive information. It also gives them the ability to view other channels on their laptops with options for audio and data gathering and management. With the Video On Demand feature, BP is able to record streaming from sources to be played back on a later date for training purposes or company downloads.

Solution #2: BP/Alberta Calgary, Canada:

Collaborative technologies were implemented for this BP location to enable audio/videoconferencing rooms, huddle rooms, control systems, trade floor communications and general company communications through a digital signage network in various public spaces.

Technologies:

  • Huddle Rooms with 46” LCD monitors and quick media control systems
  • HD videoconferencing rooms, which included 1080p single-chip HD DLP projectors, electric screens, audioconferencing systems, multimedia presentation systems, quick media control systems and a room scheduling devices
  • One Trader’s Lounge with a 57” LCD monitor and quick media control system
  • Six Touchdown Areas which consist of one 46” LCD monitor and quick media control system
  • Two Digital Cafes which all consist of two 46” and one 57” LCD monitors, two brown maestro speakers and a quick media control system
  • One Public Area and Video Distribution Area containing 46” and 82” LCD monitors, Haivision Mako HD servers and a Video Furnace Blade Server

Solution #3: BP/Houston, TX:

Whitlock was engaged to complete extensive audiovisual integrations and ongoing services for BP’s Houston, Texas Helios Plaza, a state-of-the-art facility that is a Platinum LEED certified building. The project included collaborative huddle rooms, conference rooms, multipurpose rooms and a wired fitness center, plus control and scheduling systems for technology management.

Technologies:

  • Multiple Huddle Rooms with 46” LCD monitors with quick media, control and room scheduling device
  • Numerous Conference Rooms, which included HD videoconferencing and streaming, 1080p single-chip HD DLP projectors, electric screens, audioconferencing systems, multimedia presentation systems, wireless microphones, quick media, control and room scheduling devices.
  • Multipurpose Training Rooms, which consisted of 1080p single-chip HD DLP projectors, electric screens, multimedia presentation systems, quick media, controls, audio conferencing, Blu-Ray players and room scheduling devices.
  • Fitness Center consisting of numerous 46” LCD monitors, 1080p single-chip HD DLP projectors, electric screens, XM satellite radio, Blu-Ray players and a control system.
  • Public video distribution area with eighty-six 46” LCD monitors, streaming and control systems.
