The Whitlock Group worked with the City of Dallas on the first major municipal building project in over two decades. The completed project included audiovisual systems for the Media Conference Room, a location for press conferences and community events; the Task Force Room, a mission-critical 24/7 operation center/computer systems training room; the Command Staff Room, the location of most police department top level meetings; The Chief’s Private Conference room; the ID Badge Training Room; and the in-house cable TV system.
In the Media Conference Room, The Whitlock Group installed a 12’ wide HDTV format rear projection system that can display images from two computer sources, videotape, DVD or broadcast television. The audio system in the room also has indoor and outdoor accommodations for up to 24 direct audio and video media feeds, plus the audio system in this room is networked via CobraNet to the Task Force and Command Staff rooms. The operator can control all functions of the room from the 15” touch screen control panel installed at the lectern.
In the Task Force Room, The Whitlock Group provided a 2 high x 3 wide cube wall composed of six, 60” diagonal Christie DLP cubes controlled by a Christie FRC-5000 display wall controller, along with four HDTV televisions, a distributed audio system that is connected via CobraNet to the Command Staff and Media Conference rooms, a six-channel localized audio system and an AMX NetLinx control system.
The Command Staff Room uses a 12’ wide HDTV format rear projection system with a HDTV television on each side for visual display, a distributed audio system, and a 15” touch screen control panel installed at the lectern supplemented by a 10” touch screen control panel that can be installed in two other locations in the room.
The Chief’s Private Conference Room uses a 36” HDTV television to display images from computer, VHS, DVD and Broadcast video sources. It also uses a 15” touch screen control panel on the AMX NetLinx networked control system.
The in-house cable system uses sources from DSS tuners, off-air antennas and a direct feed from the City Hall Council Chambers to disseminate information as independent channels to more than 150 outputs within the building.
