The founding of Jamestown, America's first permanent English colony, in Virginia in 1607 sparked a series of cultural encounters that helped shape the nation and the world. The government, language, customs, beliefs and aspirations of these early Virginians are all part of the United States' heritage today.
Named after Jamestown, The County of James City was formed in 1634 and includes areas surrounding Hampton Roads with historic Williamsburg, VA being the official County Seat.
The Whitlock Group was selected to complete the integration of state-of-the-art audiovisual components for the City Council Chambers, Planning Room and the central Control Room of the brand new 31,000 sq. foot James City County Government Complex Office Building.
The central Control Room supports both the Chambers and Planning Room for public meetings. This room houses the Production equipment, camera controls, editing suite, soundboard, and preview monitors for production. The City Council meetings are recorded, edited and replayed over the County's Cable channel JCC TV48 from this location.
The City Council Chambers is outfitted with a projector, screen, Panasonic cameras, audio microphones and a wireless Creston Controller that allows for simple control of equipment in this space. City Council members have a monitor that displays the same image that is being projected on the screen behind them. Panasonic Cameras capture the Council meetings, and an operator in the Central Control Room controls scene selections. The custom Crestron system provides a common, unified control between the two spaces, while the Global Streams GlobeCaster Studio8000 and Panasonic robotic cameras provide a high level of production quality.
The Planning Room includes a projector, screen, Panasonic cameras, audio microphones and a wireless Creston Controller. The City Council and School board use this room for closed-door sessions. The meetings are closed to the public, but are recorder and played back for public review.
Additional equipment used throughout the facility included: Fujinon lenses, Stewart screens, Biamp Audio Automixers, Shure microphones, a Mackie manual mixer, QSC amps, JBL speakers, Listen Technologies Assisted Listening system, Hardwood Concepts custom lecterns and Sanyo projectors.
