Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, the University of Virginia was founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819 and is currently home to more than 18,000 students. The Whitlock Group was recently approached by the University to complete the design and installation of a complete multimedia center in the school's McIntire School of Commerce.
Bridge Information Systems (BRIDGE), the largest provider of financial information services in North America, recently donated a gift of real-time financial data and information services valued at $7.3 million to the McIntire School of Commerce. The gift has created a new, high-tech financial center, the Bridge Center for Financial Markets, which promises to enhance virtually all aspects of the school's curriculum as well as the research activities of the faculty. Equipped with 62 Telerate financial workstations, the Bridge Center will allow students and faculty to develop portfolios, build financial models, test ideas and trading systems, and watch markets and economic events unfold in real time. The Whitlock Group was chosen to complete the design and installation of the audiovisual and control features of the Center. The final equipment list included three Pioneer plasma displays, four Proxima Pro AV 9320 projectors, four Da-Lite screens, Crestron Control Systems, two mobile V-Tel videoconferencing units, Extron switchers, and headphones. The rollabout videoconferencing systems have the ability to use ISDN or ATM lines and can be easily moved throughout the building.
The Center contains all of the components of a progressive, cutting edge, and almost futuristic technological studio. The Whitlock Group succeeded in helping to make the Bridge Center a real contender in the ever-changing educational environment.
