The GPA was founded in 2008 with a singular goal to bring a standardized, global delivery and support model for high quality audio and video collaboration solutions to global enterprises.

“When we founded the GPA, businesses could not find one resource for AV or UC technology deployments in multiple countries,” explains Byron Tarry, current GPA Board President and Director of Enterprise Solutions for Sharps Audio Visual in Canada. “We followed the example set by the Star Alliance in the airline industry, and have built an exceptionally strong foundation worldwide of likeminded organizations aligned with a common delivery methodology and operational infrastructure.”

“The GPA offers the only effective and efficient solution for customers who need to deploy and manage technology on a global scale, which includes a holistic design-build-manage approach, global pricing and support structures, and a comprehensive quality assurance model,” states John Bailey. “I have spent many years driving international technology standards within the GPA, and I’m now honored to be engaged in the oversight and direction of this organization.”

John will start as a new board member, effective immediately, joining other leaders from Sharps Audio Visual, GMS, Asnet, ProAV, AV Media and Absolut Technologies. He replaces outgoing board member and Whitlock Executive Vice President Julian Phillips, who moves into his role as President Elect for Infocomm in 2017.  John will assume board responsibility for Vendor Strategy, leveraging his extensive Whitlock experience and relationships in this regard.

The GPA is hosting its next strategic planning session on October 24-27 at its 3rd and final 2016 Summit to be held in Dubai, where announcements will be made related to the expansion of its Accredited Vendor Program. A key focus for John will be to build upon his significant efforts to date in furthering the GPA’s engagement with Microsoft as one of the leading organizations bringing the Microsoft Surface Hub and related Skype Room Systems to market in multiple countries across the globe.

With his specialist expertise in new technologies and the future of work, John Bailey has also accepted an appointment to the Advisory Board for the Digital Signage Expo for 2017.
